Subversion Under Wine-Crossover

The set up and use of Subversion with Enterprise Architect under Wine is almost identical to when running natively under Windows.

When running Enterprise Architect under Wine or CrossOver, you still use a Windows-based Subversion command line client.

There are some differences in the way you go about preparing your Subversion working environment, specifically in the way you install your Subversion client and how you check out a working copy folder from the Subversion repository.

System Requirements

Sparx Systems has tested and succeeded in using Enterprise Architect with Subversion under Wine 1.2, on Mac OS 10.4 and 10.6.2, as well as Ubuntu 10.04.

When using Wine 1.2 on the  Ubuntu 9.10 platform, Sparx Systems was unable to successfully use the https: protocol to communicate with the SVN server, however we could use the svn: and file: protocols.

Installing a Subversion Client

Wine is able to install applications from either a Windows .EXE file, or a .MSI installer file.

You should place the installer for your Windows Subversion client in a convenient location on the native file system.  Then, open a Wine console window from within Enterprise Architect and run the installer from within the Wine console.

This ensures that your Subversion installation accesses the same C: drive and folders that Enterprise Architect is accessing.
